Question by BR: Are there some tips or tricks to finding kills with good loot in World of Warcraft?
I know that you often find better stuff in instances / dungens, but the way other monsters and huminoids drop loot doesn’t seem to be totaly random. Are there some tips to selecting the best ones for good loot? For example, are the ones in more desolate spots more likely to give better stuff?

Not completely sure, but I think if you’re tackling a pretty good area of monsters around your level, you get better stuff. For example, yesterday I took my 15 mage out to Westfall to kill gnolls (mostly 16/17) and got quite a few green items.
Also, from one of those hints at the bottom of the loading screen: Monsters who have a silver dragon around their portrait are rare and have better loot..

On http://www.thottbot.com you can find loot statistics for some mobs. Keep in mind that this is from a limited sample, and that every identical creatures (levels and name) have identical tables. Its more or less a question of chance. Hang around rare creature spawn points and kill creatures around that. The only way to increase you chance of getting loot is killing lots of creatures.
However, kill creatures that are good for your profession (like beasts for skinning) Crafted items are good as well.

If you go here: http://wow.allakhazam.com/ you can type in the loot you are looking for and it will tell you the % of what drops it more than others.
